School Age Coordinator Information
Good News for the DSAGC!
The Board voted to create a School Age Coordinator position in order
to have a staff dedicated to working with our largest group -the school
age kids- and their families.
The DSAGC will be scheduling interviews for qualified applicants
in February and March.
The ideal candidate would have:
- 2-5 years experience in advocacy and IEP support
- Knowledge about inclusion, IDEA and No Child Left Behind
- 2-5 years experience in behavior support and sexuality support
techniques
- good contacts and knowledge of school systems
- excellent organizational, relationship building, communication,
and computer skills
- wholehearted belief in our mission
- success in maneuvering through the school age years
- family member preferred
The job duties are to:
- support families who need help advocating at IEPs
- create, recruit, train and support the IEP School Support Team
and the Education Advisory Board
- consult with families regarding behavior, respite care and sexuality
issues
- coordinate summer day camps like Lose the Training Wheels
- offer inclusion training and awareness
- support social and learning opportunities
through school age kids’ groups
like the Buddy Clubs
- make referrals to other local school age support programs
- help families to proactively teach their child skills that will
help with the transition from school age to adult
The job would be from 28-32 hours a
week, 4-5 days a week at our office, which is just west of downtown. The pay would range
from $14.00 - $15.50. There are no health benefits. If
