Who
we are: The DSAGC is a 501C-3 non-profit organization established
in 1981 with a history of responding to the changing needs of individuals
with Down syndrome.
Who we serve: The DSAGC serves southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana including Hamilton, Butler, Brown, Clermont, Warren, Boone, Campbell, Kenton and Dearborn counties. Our constituency is composed of 1300 individuals with Down syndrome of all ages, 3,000 family members and over 300 local professionals.
What we believe: We believe that knowledge empowers. By providing families with support, inspiration and information, we help individuals with Down syndrome achieve their maximum potential. We believe in inclusion. Including individuals with Down syndrome in neighborhood schools, community activities and the business world benefits both the individual and their respective communities.
Revenue which supports the DSAGC comes from fund raising events, corporate donors, community events, annual giving, in-kind donations. major gifts, charitable foundations, and memorials. We do not receive funds from membership dues, United Way or any governmental organization. Our key fund raisers include the many families who participate in our annual Buddy Walk, AK Steel, The Charles H. Dater Foundation, Targeted Marketing Solutions, Montgomery Inn and Holland Advertising.
The DSAGC is an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society and the National Down Syndrome Congress, however, there is no financial or governing relationship with either group.
Within the Greater Cincinnati area, the DSAGC maintains close working collaborations with many organizations who work with individuals with disabilities including:
ONE Award - (Organizations of Noteworthy Excellence)
This award is designed to recognize best practices among non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati Region. Presented by the Business Courier and the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
